Coming soon to the Mall of America is “Diana: A Celebration”. From February 4 through June 10, 2012 this exhibit will be on display for the public to enjoy. Some of the items featured include Diana’s wedding dress, 28 of her designer ball gowns, and two of her diamond tiaras
.
In all, the exhibit is contained in nine different galleries which feature family heirlooms, paintings, and video clips of the princess. There are over 150 items on exhibit, all of which are on loan from Althrop, the Spencer family estate. These items reflect her life from a child in England until her death in France. The text of her brother’s tribute to her and many of the condolences left by mourners after her death are on display as part of this historical exhibit.
Tickets to the event are$ 21.50 for adults and $13.50 for children. There is a discount for senior citizens, or an audio tour can be taken for only $5.00. Groups of at least 15 persons may receive special group rates when scheduled in advance.
All proceeds from “Diana: A Celebration” are donated to “The Diana Princess of Wales Memorial Fund”, which is one of her registered charities. This exhibition has been offered at the Althrop estate periodically since 1998 and has helped to raise over $2 million dollars for this charity. It is typically open for only two months each year, making this year’s exhibit at the Mall of America one of the longest running ones in the event’s history.
